Private Training FAQ's

Do you teach me how to train my dog, or do you train my dog for me?

My job is to teach you how to effectively train your dog so you can create the bond you’ve always wanted.  There is no doubt that achieving training success is maximized when dog parents are actively involved.

How many private sessions will it take to fix my dog’s behavior issues?

Every dog is different.  There are multiple factors that go into this answer.  Not only does it depend on the severity of the behavior problem(s), but also on how much the owner/handler is willing to work with their dog in between private sessions.

How far do you travel for in-home private training sessions?

We are located near the Washington Crown Center in Washington, PA, and travel up to 40 minutes from our HQ.

Group Class FAQ's

Can my dog play with other dogs during group classes?

No.  We strongly discourage leashed dogs from engaging in face-to-face greetings or play with each other. This precaution is rooted in our belief that such interactions can be problematic, especially when a dog may exhibit fear or protective behaviors.

Dogs can react for various reasons, including fear, aggression, or overexcitement. Considering the safety of all parties involved, it’s crucial to recognize that in such situations, a dog’s natural instinct might trigger a fight or flight response. An unleashed dog has the option to leave the area, but a leashed dog may feel confined and, consequently, display unnaturally aggressive behavior.

This precaution is particularly emphasized in group classes, where dogs are learning to socialize appropriately in public while leashed. Our primary concern is creating a safe and positive environment for both dogs and their owners to foster effective learning and socialization.

What are the benefits of Group Classes?

Engaging with other dogs in a controlled environment helps your pooch develop social skills and good behavior in public. It also prepares them for various real-life situations, teaching them to adapt to new environments, and advances their training to the next level.

What do we do in Group Classes?

Each group class offers a variety of exercises that work on confidence building, various levels of obedience, handler & dog bonding, proper socialization, impulse control, and even canine fitness.

Can I bring more than one dog?

We only allow 1 dog per handler in our group classes.

How many dogs are in your group classes?

Indoor retail location classes are limited to 6 dogs.

Outdoor classes are limited to 10 dogs.

Dog Boarding FAQ's

What do I need to prepare for our boarding reservation?

Do I need to fill out a Dog Boarding Information Form?

Prior to your dog’s stay with us you’ll need to fill out a “Dog Boarding Information Form” for each dog boarding with us.  This not only lets us know what your dogs daily and special needs are, but also if they require any special accommodations such as individual play and exercise time if they are aggressive towards or fearful of other dogs.  Please be as honest and thorough as possible when filling out our Dog Boarding Information Forms.  We’ll never judge your dog(s), but need as much information as possible prior to their stay to ensure the safest and most comfortable environment for them while they are here.

Why do new client’s need a 2-night boarding evaluation?

Not all dogs are the same and we want to make sure we know enough about your pooch to ensure a safe and comfortable stay with us.  We do 2-night evaluations because we’ve found that the first night in a new place is the most difficult for most dogs and want to give your dog the chance to settle in and let us really get to know them before a longer stay with us.  We’ll never judge your dog(s)

What Vaccines are required?

  • Bordatella
  • Rabies
  • DHPP (Distemper; Hepatitis; Parvovirus; Parainfluenza)
  • Leptospirosis

NOTE: All vaccines must be given no less than 2 weeks prior to boarding.

Do I need Proof of Flea & Tick Prevention?

Yes. Please upload a photo of your current flea & tick prevention medication in your dog’s profile on your Client Portal prior to arriving. Flea & tick prevention must be up to date and your pooch needs to be free of fleas and ticks when you arrive for your boarding reservation. Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and comfortable stay for your dog and others at our boarding kennel.

In private kennel or accommodation.

How much exercise will my dog get during their stay?

Because we board in our home, your pooch will spend a lot of time outside in our fenced in yard playing.  If the weather is bad, we have an indoor play area for them to still get to play and socialize a great deal during their stay.

Will my dog be allowed to play with other dogs?

As we know, all dogs don’t always get along with all other dogs.  We have structured playtime with oversight where your dog will be allowed to play in a group of dogs they get along with.

What if my dog cannot be with other dogs due to aggression or other behavioral issues?

If your dog is not able to be socially active with other dogs, that is ok!  They will still enjoy plenty of individual exercise and play with us in our home environment atmosphere.  We take pride in providing a safe and comfortable environment for every dog in our care.

Do you give daily medications if needed?

Yes.  Medications must come in the original medication containers.

Please note we have specific health requirements for dogs boarding with us. If a dog is on any antibiotics for less than 3 days, they are not eligible for boarding. Additionally, if a dog is experiencing a contagious ailment, they cannot be accommodated during the contagious period. These measures are in place to ensure the well-being of all our guests and maintain a healthy environment.
